Tunnel Portal

This portal is flat cast in one piece of limestone filled, gray tinted resin. It is black washed to bring out the details.  It is weather and waterproof. The downside of this material is that it deteriorates the mold quickly so production is limited.  The portal weighs over 5 pounds and will make an enduring feature in your garden railroad. Crafted in the same style as the Townfarm Crossing, it makes a dramatic combination.

8 3/4 to top of arch
Easy to install
The back of the portal has a 1/8" wide slot. Glue in a flashing (vinyl garden edging is shown in the photo) then foam or caulk/glue it to your tunnel This makes it easy mate the portal to your tunnel and avoid erosion and seepage where the two meet.  The bottom of the portal has a ¼" hole on each side to accept a rod or bolt  you can embed in the soil or mortar to keep the portal firmly in place. The limestone/resin material does not require maintenence but snow and ice can abrade the black accent finish. Best to pad with newspaper then plastic sheet before the heavy snows. This also prevents critters from taking up residence.
Opening is 7" wide by 8 3/4" high

Be sure to check the smokestack height on steam engines. I have made a 'booster' that raises the clearance at the top of the arch to 12"
