Albee, William born Blackstone, Mass, 1746, died Machias ME 1836 He was one of Foster's crew in the Battle of Machias Bay June 12, 1775, the first naval engagement of the Revolutionary War, he took part in expeditions against Nova Scotia, serving in Captain Smith's and Captain West's Companies as Lieut. and Adjutant from 1776 to Apr 15, 1783. He served in Continental Army as Lieut. of Artillery in Col. John Allen's Reg. "O, Mother land! They loved thee well, These sons who fought for thee, Who in they house did proudly dwell, In brave simplicity, A handful they, but strong indeed, And willing they to suffer, bleed, And as the river ever runs to sea, Thy loves full tide flows back to these, Thy elder sons who lived for thee and died" (Pg 178)
