Last Will and Testament of Isaac Leet
"I Isaac Leet of the township of Canton in the County of Washington and State of Pennsylvania calling to mind the mortality of my body and uncertainty of my continuance here being advanced in years but in health and of a perfect sound understanding and memory do make ordain constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following hereby revoking all former wills by me made. And first I resign my soul to god that gave it and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discression of my Executors herein after mentioned (nothing doubting). As to my worldly Estate that it has pleased God to bless me with I dispose of in manner and form following that is to say First I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca Leet the house and lot of land that I now occupy during her natural life containing about fifteen acres and all the Creturs of whatsoever kind that belongs to me at my decease together with all my household furniture I will to my wife Rebecca Leet as aforesaid absolutely to be at her total and entire disposal and further I will to my wife as aforesaid the lawful interest of all my outstanding debts to be paid yearly to her by my Executors herein after mentioned untill the full term of her natural life and at her decease my will is that all my Estate that I have now either real or personal or may hereafter acquire that be and remain my property at my wifes decease excepting always and reserving to my wifes disposal what is herein before willed to her shall be disposed of as follows that is to say. First item I give to my son William Leet five shillings sterling, Item I give to my son Daniel Leet, Isaac Leet, Mary Hill, Rebecca Dey, Susanna Moreton, Catherine Bean, Jonathan Leet, Rachel Wilson, Elizabeth Waller all my Estate to be divide in equal shares excepting only what is heretofore excepted. And lastly I do make my wife Rebecca Leet Executrix and my sons Daniel Leet and Jonathan Leet my Executors of this my last will and testament. Item my will is that each share as above willed shall descend to and be enjoyed the lawfull heirs of my sons and daughters as above mentioned agreeable to an act of the general Assembly of Penn. passed April the nineteenth one thousand seven hundred and ninety four entitled an Act directing the descent of Intestates my will is that it be remembered and considered by and among my children and whome it may concern that my son William Leet has been portioned off by me in equal share previous to this my last Will & Testament In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six...Isaac Leet (seal) signed sealed and published by the said testator in the presents of us who subscribed our names in the testators presents and at his request Joseph Swearingen, Isaac Kerr, David Redick - Washington County."
"Be it remembered that on the 14th day of May, AD 1802 personally appears before we the subscriber, Deputy Register, for the probate of wills & granting letters of Administration in & for said County, David Redick & Isaac Kerr, two the the subscribing did declare and say that they were personally present and heard and saw Isaac Leet, the above named testator, sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the above and aforegoing intrument in writing, as and for his last will and testament. And that at the time of the execution thereof, he the said testator was of sound and well disposing mind, memory & understanding, according to the best of these deponents knowledge, observation & belief. That they signed the same in the presence of the testator and at his request, and in the presence of each other Isaac Kerr, David Redick sworn to and subscribed before me John McCluney, Deputy Register."
