LEET, Isaac appointed administrator for estate of William Vahan:
By his excellency Jonathan Belcher Esq: Captain General
and Govenor in Chief in and over his majesty's province of New Jersey and
Territories thereon depending in America as to: Isaac Leet of the
County of Hunterdon administrator of all and singular the goods rights
and credits of William Vahan late of the County of Monmouth, deceased Greeting
Whereas the said William Vahan so as aforesaid deceased
dyed intestate having or I desiring or do grant unto you the said Isaac
Light(sic) husband of one of the daughters and coheirs of the said deceased
in whose fidelity or [?? ?? ?? ?? ??].
To exhibit an inventory at Perth Amboy on or before
the 2d June next and to render an amount on or before the 2d March then
next being duly sworn. Dated this second day of March Anno Domini
one thousand seven hundred and fifty.

1776-1780 Petitions for a new state -
papers of the Continental Congress No. 48, folios 251-6, pgs 89-96 - a
petition for a new state which was signed by about 2,000 persons living
in SW PA and adjoining West VA. These persons were unhappy with the
conflict between PA and VA for this territory and wanted a new state formed.
The Revolution brought an end to the dispute and also to the need for a
new state.
