" William E. Carrothers died at Brookside, Minnesota, on September 27, 1926. He was born in Woodfield, Ohio, May 30, 1851. Most of his life was spent in Illinois, residing at San Jose for many years, moving to Brookside from Shobonier, Illinois, in November, 1925. He had been in poor health for several years, his condition becoming serious in January. At that time he expressed a desire to be baptized in the Catholic faith and through his devotion received strength to bear the long months of suffering with patience, though anxiously awaiting the end.
In October 1856(sic) he was married to Veronica Leoni at San Jose, was with a daughter, Veronica, survives him, together with three sisters, Mrs. Mary Alford and Mrs. Belle Biggs, both of Kansas, and Mrs. Edith (unreadable) of Louisiana. One sister, Mrs. Sara Dillon preceded him in death by two weeks. Furner services were conducted Thursday with interment in Minneapolis."
