"Mrs. Sarah R. Carrothers Dillon was born June 19th, 1844, near Woodsfield, Monroe county, Ohio. She came with her parents, E.D. and Adeline Carrothers to Boynton, Taswell county, Illinois, in 1854. She married to Aaron Dillon after his return from the Civil War January 27, 1866. To this union was born two sons, Frank P. Dillon of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Wm. C. Dillon of Chicago.
The family moved to Girard, Kansas in 1878, and to Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1897, where they resided until her death September 7th, 1926, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 18 days.
There are left to mourn her loss her husband, Aaron Dillon, with whom she passed sixty years of her life, her two sons, six grandchildren, one brother, W.E. Carrothers of Minneapolis and three sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Alford of Grrensburg(sic), Kansas, and Mrs. Etheleen of Crowley, Louisana.
She united with the Methodist church when she was nine years of age, and for these seventy-three years has been a faithful member.
The body was brought to Macksville, Kansas, by her sons, her husband being 86 years of age, was unable to come. The funeral service was held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bella Biggs, conducted by Rev. Forrest E. Rohl. The burial
was in Farmington cemetery, where her father and other relatives are buried."
