"George Medbury Fitch, a veteran of the Civil War, and brother of our townsman O.P. Fitch, passed away this city last Thursday morning after an illness of but two days from acute pneumonia. He was born at Garrattsville, New York, Nov 11, 1839, and had reached the age of 77 years. He came here from San Diego in August, 1915, at the solicitation of his brother, who saw that he was in declining health, and his death leaves the latter the only surviving member of a family of nine children. A sister, aged 81, passed away at Eau Claire, Wisconsin, last July. The two brothers were always close friends and enlisted in the service of their country together. The funeral will take place Saturday, Nov. 25th, at 2p.m., from the Dillinger undertaking parlors, with services by Rev. E.E. Clark. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in the Grand Army plot."
