She was born Sept. 6, 1896 at Wolf Station, Tuscarawas County, a daughter of Lewis and Isabelle Law Shaffer. Her husband, Siegel M. John, died June 26, 1971. She belonged to the Wolf Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Burrier, Port Washington Route 1, Mrs. Paul (June) McConnell, West Layfayette Route 1, Mrs. James (Mae) Gibson, and Mrs. Joe (Shirley) McKnight, both of New Philadelphia; three sons, Siegel E., Newcomerstown Route 3, George G., Newcomerstown Route 2, and Charles F., New Philadelphia; one sister, Mrs. Frank Huff, Newcomerstown; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ourant Funeral Home in Newcomerstown. The Rev. Ethel M. Reese will be in charge with burial in Bethel Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m."
