"Grandmother Miller, whose maiden name was Mary Warren, was a native of North Carolina; was born Jan 18, 1800; died at her late residence in Baker township on Friday, Feb 24, 1899. She was buried at the Miller grave yard on Sunday, Feb. 26, Elder Downey afficiating. A large concourse of people were in attendance. She was, at the time of her death, 99 years old.
Her husband's name was John W. Miller, also a native of North Carolina. His death preceded hers about twentynine years. They were married in their native state when quite young; moved to this state about sisty years ago, bringing with them five children, the late Henry W. Miller being the baby, about two years od then.
It is said of her that she rode on horseback all the way from North Carolina, carrying her baby on her lap. It would be a Herculean task to undertake to enumerate the number of her grandchildren, great and great great-grandchildren.
She had been a consistent and faithful Christian woman for some seventy years and waited patiently for death to come and to be called up higher, for she could truly look back on a long life well spent in the service of her Master. She has now gone to receive the welcome plaudit; Thou hast been faithful over a few things, enter now into the joys of thy Lord".
