"Richard L. Younker Dies In Florida"

"Richard L. Younker, 79, a retired farmer of this area, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31st, in Memorial Hospital at Sarasota, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Younker resided during the winter months at Bradenton, Florida. Death followed an illness of one month.

Mr. Younker was born in Mocassin, Illinois, Fayette County, on April 26th, 1880, the son of John L. and Mary Yunger Younker. He was married to Flora Henderson on October 26th, 1902, at Bruce, Illinois. She survives.

Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Virgil of Moweaqua; and Glenn of Blue Mound; three brothers, Fred of Windsor; Charles of Mattoon, and Willis of Centralia; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Salmons, Brownstown; and Mrs. Elizabeth Stretch, El Reno, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation was held in the Shannon Funeral Home at Sarasota, Friday night, and a prayer service was held there on Saturday morning. The body arrived via rail at Mattoon, at 7:35 o'clock Monday morning.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the First Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Burnett officiating. Mrs. Carl Tankersley and Mrs. Alfred Branyan sang, with Mary Claire Jermaine at the organ.

Pallbearers were C.C. Owens, Earl Bilyeu, Clarence Curry, L.L. Holloway, Glenn Lovering and Dale Corzine.

Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery, Assumption.

Mrs. Younker was accompanied back to Assumption by her son and daughter-in-law, Mrs. and Mrs. Virgil Younker, who had been wintering in Florida. Glenn Younker also flew down to be with his mother."
