"Lyman Walter Yunker was born April 2, 1883 in Fayette County, Ill., and passed away on March 4, 1929, at 9:30 P.M., at the Huber Memorial Hospital in Pana following an operation which his weakened condition could not withstand, at the early age of 45 years, 10 months and 7 days.
He was united in marriage to Bessie Downey on April 29, 1906 at Shelbyville, Ill. To this union nine children were born, one son dying in infancy. The surviving children are Vera, Bernice, Marvin, Maxine, Edna, Lowell, Reatha and Margaret, all at home together with his wife, four brothers and two sisters, Fred and Charlie of Henton, Ill., Wills of Centralia, Richard of Assumption, Mrs. Ed Stretch of El Reno, Okla., and Mrs. Rosa Salmons of Brownstown, Ill. With these he leaves twenty-eight nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his early demise.
At the age of fourteen years he united with the Methodist Church at Sulphur Springs, west of Windsor, Ill. His early life was spent in Shelby County until 1907 when he went to South Dakota and settled on a homestead. In 1919 he came to Illinois and settled on a farm northeast of Ramsey until three years ago when they moved to Assumption.
Funeral services were conducted from the Shafer and Pitzer funeral chapel on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. A.L. Powell and
interment was made in Greenwood cemetery."
We have a copy of the above obituary, but don't know in what paper it appeared.
"To those who were so kind and helpful during our time of sorrow and sadness in the death of our beloved husband, father and brother, and to those who send the beautiful flowers we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks.
Mrs. Bessis(sic) D. Yunker and Children and Relatives"
